Solar Panel Installation on a Modern Family Home

A symmetrical all-black on-roof array, designed around two dormers on a contemporary Kent home.

This contemporary rendered family home received a smart on-roof array of all-black solar panels, split symmetrically either side of two dormer windows on a grey-tiled roof. The layout balances generation with a clean, considered appearance that suits the modern architecture.

The all-black panels tie in with the home's dark window frames, bifold doors and roof lantern, so the solar looks like a deliberate part of the design rather than an afterthought.

Designed around the dormers

On-roof mounting fixes the solar panels to discreet rails above the existing tiles, which keeps installation efficient and cost-effective. The clever part here was the layout: working the array around the two dormers so both sides stay balanced and output stays high.

Our team set out the rails, ran the cabling neatly out of sight, and finished the array with tidy edges that follow the roofline — the kind of work we're proud to put our name on.

Built for a busy household

For a busy family home the payoff is significant: solar panels can cut electricity bills substantially, and pairing them with battery storage lets the household use its own daytime generation in the evening — ideal when everyone's home.

Add an EV charger and the same system can help fuel the family car on clean, self-generated energy. It's lower bills, more energy independence and a greener home all at once.

Frequently asked questions

Years of hands-on experience and know-how — here to help.

The panels are fixed to discreet rails mounted above your existing tiles. It's the most common and cost-effective way to fit solar, and with all-black panels it still looks smart.

Yes. We design the array around dormers, windows and chimneys so it stays balanced and high-output while looking deliberate rather than squeezed in.

It depends on your usage and system size, but a well-designed system can cut a large share of your electricity bill, especially when paired with a battery to use your daytime generation in the evening.

For a busy household, usually yes. A battery stores your daytime solar for evening use, when families use most power, and we'll size it around how you actually use energy.

Most homes are completed in one to three days on site, depending on the size of the system and roof access. We give you a clear timeline at survey stage so you know exactly what to expect.

Very little. Rain keeps the glass largely clean and there are no moving parts to wear out. We can arrange an occasional clean or system check if you'd like to keep output at its best.

Yes. We fit GivEnergy, Fox and Tesla battery storage and smart EV chargers, either at the same time or later, so you can store daytime solar power for the evening and charge your car on your own clean energy.

We do. We're based in Faversham and cover the whole county, from Canterbury, Ashford and Maidstone to Folkestone, the Medway towns and the West Kent commuter belt.
